Portrait of my Sister Mandy

Ive started a new portrait, this time my sister posed for me. I asked her to pose because she has natural red hair. These are my color studies. I may carry them further, but these are just guides that Ill use for the final painting which will be about 18X24. I haven't decided yet if I'm going to paint the large painting in oils or watercolors. I may go with watercolors this time. Ive also considered trying Casein paint.

I first did a life drawing, and then did a quick 5X7 color study, (upper right on my board). for the small study I used acrylics on paper.

The larger study, from my life drawing, is 8.5X12 oil on gessoed plywood. Ill likely carry this one a bit further, to establish details, like tree trunks, tree limbs, shrubbery, and plants, ect.. For those details Ill take the painting out in my backyard.
